Statement on Potentially Harmful Language and Content
The University of Michigan Libraries and Museums aim to describe materials in a way that respects the people and communities who create, use, and are represented in their collections. However, reparative description work is ongoing. For this reason, researchers should be aware that they will encounter harmful, offensive, and outdated langage in catalog records, finding aids, and other metadata for the Philippine Collections. To learn more about the University Libraries’ efforts toward creating accessible descriptions and reducing harm to communities, see the Remediation of Harmful Language in Library Metadata.
