The Bentley Historical Library
The Bentley Historical Library holds over 100 archival collections that contain material related to the Philippines.

The materials primarily document the lives and careers of U-M affiliates who were involved in scientific expeditions to the Philippines, those who served in military and colonial government positions during the U.S. colonial period, or who taught in the Philippines.
Special Collections Research Center
The Special Collections Research Center holds nearly 40 archival collections related to the Philippines, with a particular emphasis on the U.S. colonial era. Some examples:

The Dean C. Worcester Documents and Papers 1834-1915 consis of manuscript and typewritten correspondence, clippings, documents and articles collected by Dean C. Worcester, member of the Philippine Commission and Secretary of the Interior of the Philippines.
The Anti-Imperialist League Collections:
David J. Steinberg Philippines Collection, 1899-1995
The David J. Steinberg Philippines Collection, 1899-1995 contains research materials, both original documents and photocopies, which pertain to Steinberg’s career in the study of Southeast Asia and the Philippines.
H.H. Bartlett Papers, c. 1899-1916
The H.H. Bartlett Papers, c. 1899-1916 include materials collected by Harley Harris Bartlett, a University of Michigan botanist, related to the Southern Philippines in the early 20th century.
Everett E. Thompson Papers, 1900-1930 (bulk 1900-1910)
The Everett E. Thompson Papers, 1900-1930 (bulk 1900-1910), contains material related to American missionary and civil servant Everett E. Thompson and includes correspondence and extensive photographs from Thompson’s time in the Philippines.
Philippine-American War in Leyte and Samar Collection, 1878-1930 (bulk 1898-1901
The Philippine-American War in Leyte and Samar Collection, 1878-1930 (bulk 1898-1901), consists of material related to the Philippine-American War of 1899-1902, including the Leyte and Samar Revolutionary Papers (1897 – 1901) which contain correspondence, records, certificates, and other material from Filipino forces.
Tiffany Bernard Williams Papers, 1893-1986
The Tiffany Bernard Williams Papers, 1893-1986 consists of Williams’s reminiscences of his experiences as a military officer in the Philippine Constabulary stationed in the mountain district of North Central Luzon, as well as a large collection of photographs which have been digitized.
Luke Wright Papers, 1883-1911 (bulk 1900-1906)
The Luke Wright Papers, 1883-1911 (bulk 1900-1906), includes correspondence, household budgets, invitations, letters of reference, documents, clippings and photographs reflecting aspects of Wright’s diplomatic career in the Philippines.
William L. Clements Library
The William L. Clements Library holds archival materials pertaining to the Philippines concentrated around three areas:
- Documents from the American perspective during the Spanish-American War and Philippine-American War, including the Benjamin Stark, Jr. papers (1898-1902), the William Henry Bisbee collection (1898-1901), the Edwin A. Rowe papers (1899-1901), and the Albert F. Gudatt journal (1898-1904, bulk 1898-1902).
- Materials from American soldiers stationed in the Philippine Islands during World War II, such as the Carl F. Eichenlaub papers (1944-1955) and the John and Paul Pitman papers (1944-1946).
- Materials about the Santo Tomas internment camp in Manila during World War II, including the John Osborn Santo Tomas internment transcriptions (1945), the Schlereth family collection (1930-1945, bulk 1941-1944), and the Mary Alice Foley papers (1937-1995, bulk 1937-1945).
